WEEKLY TASK SUGGESTIONS

The following suggestions are provided as a list of possible ways for men to become involved in a personal manner where an organized UMMen’s group does not exist or beyond the parameters of the local group. Partcipation as a leadership team member or officer is always encouraged. Likewise agent/advisors for a church and the district contacts for them are a critical part of our communication system.
Event/Activity Guidance
Accept overall responsibility for an event or activity.
Be responsible for logistics for an event or activity.
Be responsible for programming for an event or activity.
Be responsible for registration for an event or activity.
Be responsible for publicity for an event or activity.
Be responsible for kitchen functions for an event or activity.
Handle media for an event.
Photograph an event or activity for publication.
Procure materials necessary for an event/activity.
Prepare a timed activity list for an event/activity.
Analyze the effectiveness of an event or activity.
Be the “Fun Manager” for an event.
Creative Talent Usage
Provide humorous anecdotes for programming.
Provide trivia anecdotes for programming.
Wax Poetically
Write an article for the web site or newsletter.
Add or embellish an item to the Event/Activity Listing.
Add or embellish an item to the Weekly Task Listing.
Build a podcast for one aspect of leadership development.
Contribute suggestions to an element of the Five Year Plan.
Generate a newsletter.
Provide technical web site support.
Coordinate web site presentation material.
Clerical, Registration and Organizational Efforts
Help organize material received from other tasks.
Maintain an attendance register for men’s activities.
Manage a segment of the web site.
Obtain a listing of male church members with contact data.
Obtain a list of male members identified as inactive.
Research community calendars for common opportunities.
Document an event or activity for publication.
Be a founding participant in a new venture.
Involve Yourself in Relationship Building
Do a skill/interest interview.
Encourage others to join you in a Wesley Notes group.
Greet attendees at event/activities.
Make contact and follow-up calls.
Participate in a Wesley Notes weekly preparation and review.
Prepare a biographical sketch of a UMMan.
Volunteer as an usher.
Write a letter to an active Guardsman.
Invite non-members to events/activities.
Visit. Contact or assist shut-ins.
Participate in a “Zoom” bible study.
Join a choir, band or caroling group.J
Participate in an educational class.
Join a “Zoom” book study.
Support church and community events.
Do Physical Tasks
Decorate facilities for special events.
Be a bus driver for youth or events.
Be an inter-church communicator.
Personally promote upcoming events/activities.
Develop promotional materials for scheduled events.
Do grounds maintenance at your church.
Help as a chef or kitchen aid.
Provide food for events.
Provide transportation.
Send a Guardsman a goodie package.
Build props for youth activities.
Contact a potential vendor for door prizes.
Gleaning food.
Help maintain a park or campground.
Get involved with the Society of St. Andrew.
Become an Educator
Be a facilitator to other churches, especially small ones.
Be a mentor to a young person.
Be a sunday school teacher or substitute.
